Song Tools is a bundle of apps to manage, edit and view song chords, tabs and lyrics.
It was build to support musicians in live situations on stage or stream without disturbing the flow of your sessions.
Most apps out there are for mobile devices (Android, iOS) or browser based.
There are not many apps for Windows and the ones I found did not had the functionality and flexibility I wanted.
Nothing. But they did not fit my idea of being simple and feature rich at the same time.
You should be able to focus on your music and not the app that just displays your chords.
I started watching music streams in Covid time and a lot of streamers, who not only play their own songs, are always struggling when it comes to switching to the next song. They need to click and type on keyboard in between, to find their chords or lyrics and can't focus on their viewers in this time. I play guitar by myself and knew what their problem was.
My idea was to let the app do the work or only have to press one key, use a Bluetooth foot pedal to keep your hands free or maybe use a stream deck button to switch to the next song.
You have different options to choose from, depending on the situation you are in.
All have in common, that you prepare your files before you start. You convert them to right format once. It is basically only a text file with a few addons, but I made Song Manager to do most of the work for you. After your files are created, you can upload them to a database, make different setlists and share them with other users.
This way you can make a setlist for your live gig (you do it anyway) and can share it with your band. You only need to press one button to switch to the next song in the Song Viewer.
In the streaming situation connect your files with your StreamerSonglist.com songs. Most streamers use it anyway to let their viewers choose the next song. When the next song comes up, the app will notice it and switch automatically without the need to press a key or click through a bunch of windows.
At the moment Song Tools consists of two light weight Windows apps, which will run on Windows 10 or 11.
I have a lot of ideas for the future, to make Song Tools a package that covers all your needs.
Here are some, which are work in progress at the moment:
See the following section for a feature overview off the two apps.
